When One Image Becomes the Starting Point for Many Different Worlds
“From Here On, It’s Up to You” was a creativity challenge that began with a simple question: What would different artists create if they were all given the same image?
In this challenge, participants were provided with a single image as their starting point and invited to continue from there in their own way. There were no restrictions on how they could approach the image; they could add something to it, remove or alter parts of it, bring it to life through movement, give it sound, or even transform it into an entirely different artwork.
Painting, collage, photography, video, animation, digital art, and any other medium could all become part of the experience. The central idea was that, unlike many open calls and art challenges that ask artists to respond to a specific theme or format, this time everyone would begin from the same point. The difference would lie in the path each artist chose to take from there.
From One Image to Different Narratives
One of the most fascinating aspects of this challenge was the contrast between a shared starting point and the diversity of the final outcomes. Once the same image was placed in the hands of different artists, it no longer remained a fixed image. Each artwork added something from its creator’s perspective, imagination, and visual language.
In this sense, “From Here On, It’s Up to You” was less of a competition focused on creating an artwork around a specific subject and more of an exploration of the different possibilities contained within a single image. It showed how one shared starting point can lead to entirely different paths and outcomes.
Audience Selection of the Featured Works
After the submission deadline, a selection of the received works was published for the final voting stage. The selected artworks were shared through the Instagram Stories of Nibiart.news, and the audience was invited to choose the winning work.
Ultimately, based on audience votes, the winning artwork of this edition was selected and awarded a prize of 1,500,000 tomans.
